Estrada against Gonzalez WBC WBA superfly title.
Tonight in Dallas Texas, we saw one of those fights, that you can see only once in a lifetime, we would like to see another one that would close a trilogy, even if the first one was in another weight category.
Roman Gonzalez is 34 years old, a palmares of 53 (50w,3l,41ko), and Francisco 30 years old (45,28ko,3 l); people out of the ordinary and I mean out of the ordinary as champions, of the world. Roman is the only boxer from Nicaragua who is a world champion in four different weight categories. Estrada punished Roman’s black beast; Between them, they had already faced each other in 2012 in another weight category, and there Roman’s superiority had been clear.
What about the match, we think candidate to match of the year for sure, (at the time) and the sixth round is rouds of the year, I challenge and hope to be wrong that we can see a better round than this, in other disputes.
Technique, timing, combinations, superfine by Estrada, great physical compared to the smaller Chocolatito, who with as much technique, power, timing and a way to put back the shots and breakthrough worthy of a cartoon of the last generation, incredible, I say incredible his way of boxing and put back, blow on blow and series on series.
In my opinion Estrada had not won, he cashed the heaviest blows and in the face to face he gave up. A draw would have been a good result, to give the match to Chocolatito would not have been a theft, since he is older, and in our opinion, was able to contain and in some stages dominate the fresher, and certainly of undoubted class Francisco Estrada.
What to say a match of other times, where you can see everything from the block of the blow, to put back; to the remittance of the blow on blow, from the dodge to the return and from cashing to put back blows in such tight junctures of time, to leave you with bated breath.
Basically Estrada has tried to make the match, but Roman has always tried, cut the ring, faced and in our opinion in some phases dominated; continuous and incessant exchanges until the twelfth round, without a hint of decrease in intensity, and in the first rounds they started strong.
One thing that has jumped to the eyes for sure, and perhaps has made a difference for two of the judges, was the athletic freshness of Estrada, not that Roman was not up to the mark, but it is clear that at some junctures the amount of blows and the movements of Francisco were more than Roman, even if I repeat the most incisive blows were put by Chocolatito (and he put several). Surely it was one of those matches really superformidable; hence the problem that then many become of different range, really two suepr champions.
Thanks for the great show offered by these two super champions, honor to Roman and super compliments to Francisco who continues to have the scepter of power.
