Ortiz Leo

Saturday night in Los Angeles great boxing.

as featherweights there was really an incredible match between Angelo Leo and Luis Alberto Venado Lopez. leo won, but it was a fight from another time and full of twists and turns. These are two fighters who really hurt and are devastating. Venado in our opinion should take care of the defense more; he hits hard and conscious of the fact that he stuns keeps his hands down heedless of the blows of others, and it was precisely this factor that made him go down ..at a stage where he was dominating the fight; this is because Leo has just as much power; perhaps less technical but he proved more tenacious and was able to take advantage of a moment to hit Lopez in a devastating way, there is already talk of a knockout of the year. in my opinion there will be a rematch … really two fighters from another time ..timing powers and that Mexican style that Americans love …

Ortiz won his first superwelter title against Serhii “El Flaco” Bohachuk. it was a match of high technical and competitive content with exchanges at the human limit. neither of them ever shirked the exchange, Ortiz suffered two counts, but was always ready to put the blows back; in one circumstance El Flaco was kd on his feet,(maybe more than one).. but stoically he resisted and kept fighting. I don’t know what to say about these guys; Ortiz showed one limitation, and that is that he continued to do his fighting despite the fact that it was not continually profitable; he put on a myriad of strikes and did not move to then box, but stayed in his line, and that is he sent El Flaco the message that he wins the way he wants to, carrying and bringing back his combinations until he exhausted his opponent.

a slight superiority of Ortiz in the carrying of the blows and at the technical level was seen, in our humble opinion, but for sure El Flaco proved to be a top fighter ;really prepared and with a remarkable technical background as well as discrete chestiness, the title was his..here.

Ortiz showed unsurpassed stubbornness, combined with a willingness to prove his technical skills as an infinite puncher, ready to annihilate himself to win and ready to prove that his punches bend and will bend others…by the end of the match the guys were both scarred and tired; one of those titles that really is worth flying and watching from the ranks of the arena.

great match really to be framed. Ortiz should maybe take care of the defense attack phase more..but he is the champion…who knows what’s next for him….
