Prograis win WBC title

WBC Super Lightweight champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis wins over Danielito Zorrilla of Puerto Rico.

Regis did not dominate the bout at times he showed he was technically superior, but his opponent gave him a hard time, on our scorecards there was a point for the loser; in the first round a right hand by Danielito put down the champion who was not counted, but it was obvious the landing and you could see he was shaken Regis; the match continued like that with ups and downs a lot of tactics to get to bring a good blow; erroneous game plan on both sides, but beautiful match at times with shots and two styles ugly to look at. The American trying to shorten with an unusual style, and the Puerto Rican careful not to get hit and ready to rematch; usual errrore against the southpaw and usual tactic, Americans win as they want…also the Puerto Rican was always spinning that way…in some moments he didn’t look but when he touches he does badly…he could improve a lot…

In some stretches it was really captivating and beautiful; with some sudden exchanges, but here attention was very few exchanges that followed each other, a lot of attention to defense and ready to put back but without getting caught..Zorrita did not give the idea of dominating Regis, who certainly took more blows, but we repeat neither showed a clear superiority against the other also Regis put down Danielito who was counted. .we didn’t like it as a win, but it’s one that won’t make that much noise…Teo started talking about retiring…otherwise…let’s see..what will happen..to get back to the match a draw would have been more honest the title would have remained in Regi’s hands, and Danielito wouldn’t have suffered this defeat that we didn’t see.

WBO champion Tim Tszyu (23-0, 17 KOs) destroyed Carlos “Chema” Ocampo (34-3, 22 KOs) in 77 seconds, it was a masterfully brought right hand that ended the unequal challenge effectively; Tim is strong he should challenge Charlo… and we will see when that happens and he is a fighter who is full of surprises hurts, is linear but could defeat him..for sure last night he did not struggle at all..Carlos was not able to react to the right hand and from there it was all over immediately…
