Big Bivol
Tonight a page of boxing history was consumed and we didn’t really like the way it took shape, but that’s what happened.
On the one hand a superlative Bivol, careful excellent defense and ready to come in with combinations and make pace and keep constant pressure and always pressing; on the other hand a very ugly stand-in for the great Zurdo Ramirez; who failed to do anything; he looked to us like a body builder against a boxer; slow mechanical rarely found time and distance combinations; really we had a hard time believing that that man there had come to contend for a crown in such a category.
All wrong; approach to the match , always in Dimitry’s inside line and in spite of the longer arms if you don’t use them your opponent will use them and he will make the match, he came in small steps close to the Russian, but never ready to unload the action, exactly where in the melee Zurdo should have made one of the differences in the match; but the thing that most perhaps puzzled us was his almost unwillingness to do; we saw an exchange worthy of that word in the twelfth round; it is true that you are facing one of the greatest fighters in the category, but if you look at him you certainly can not beat him; the approach the game plan everything was wrong and we feel sorry for the Mexican who in our opinion has( or had) great numbers however we repeat you have to fight, move work with the jab find the distance unload the series come out outside and away ready to redo the action with unrelenting rhythms and not with those seen . .
on the other side a Bivol who showed that he is really lethal very very smart,( in our opinion lacked some kind of pre match tactics and during the match all the work done by Zurdo’s corner was wrong)… he has a great continuity of strikes; very good defense which allowed him to cash in very few and let’s remember that Ramirez hurts..and he was very very careful from the beginning to the end..he was like a pinball world champion careful not to let that ball in and always hit it at the right time and making it do everything he had decided.
It was not the great match the great battle that we expected with blow after blow, certainly dictated by geometric tactics, but there should have been battle,at least at some junctures or rather a battle with a continuity of more intense exchanges; it was very tactical Zurdo made a mistake and paid for it, let’s hope to see him again soon..
For Bivol it is time to face the King and there if the King is always the same we will see how he will get to the last gong.
