Benavidez win against Ellis WBC title
It was a good fight, as we predicted, and lasted eleven rounds, when the referee decided that the punishment for Ellis (who in an interview said: if you want to become champion, you have to beat the champion, that’s why I’m here), was becoming heavy.
Exchanges, incessant, face to face, unidirectional movements of both boys, who have boxed, put a myriad of blows, and have given life, I repeat a good match, but the superiority of David was indisputable, second by second, round after round.
He was 14 years old when he entered the gym and I think he weighed 240 pounds (about 100 kg for short) … you know, he started to train because he was overweight. He is very young, 24 years old, he has, in our opinion, great margins of improvement at the technical level, he hurts just enough to demolish his opponents, and offers a show that Americans love blow after blow.
There is not much to say about the match. Continuous domination, all the blows were put away, Ellis tried to box and move but David was always in the direction, of where Ellis’ body was moving, constantly on the attack, like a hunting dog stalking its prey.
We hope for him more probing engagements and who knows, because he wants the best, thanks to Ellis, and thanks to Benavidez, confirmed champion, we knew it would be a formality.
